Transmission electronic microscopes (TEM) are the most sophisticated laboratory instruments that are used today. They are used by scientists and engineers in life science, material sciences and semiconductor industry, indirectly affecting our life in many aspects. These sophisticated tools are being developed, market and manufactured in our cleanrooms in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where this role is also positioned.

The Team

System Integration & Verification is a multidisciplinary technical team in our R&D organization (~40 people) that is responsible for system integration and verification of large-scale system projects Transmission Electron Microscopes, like our Titan microscopes. Our team is involved in multiple large-scale system programs in parallel. Besides system integration and verification for regular products we also work on Non-Standard Requests to deliver customer specific solutions.

How you will make an impact?

Major contribution and ownership to the integration aspects of complex new hardware and software projects and System Owner of at least one R&D TEM Microscope. This role is perfect for someone that enjoys sophisticated technical challenges in a highly innovative R&D environment. You will learn the full spectrum of our TEM systems and have a direct impact on the products we deliver for our customers to make the world, healthier, cleaner and safer!

What will you do?

The responsibilities and tasks are:

As Test & Validation engineer - Project Member:

• Execute tests and/or guide others in performing tests.

• Handle your planning in agreement with system users and projects

• Buildup microscope modules and/or system based on lab/project needs

• Help and train system users if requestion or needed

• Control the accessories and gain knowledge if needed

• Contributor for FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

• Interaction with system engineers and suppliers on performance and specifications

• Address integration issues and report/discuss with designers/PL

How will you get there?

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

• Bachelor (or master’s degree) in Mechanical, Electronics or Mechatronic engineering.

• Experience with testing of low volume, complex high-tech modules

• Proven experience as test and validation engineer (1-3 years)

• Experience with the different development fields (hardware, electronics, software).

• Excellent communication skills in English, Dutch is plus

• Flexibility in working hours and in traveling if needed (10% Max)

• Flexibility in supporting other project members

• Willing to (temporarily) work on topics that are not part of the job description

• Ability to summarize your test work into a clear message and recommendation
