Connecting your world

As a Data Engineer, you will help us build a production grade cloud environment. In this role, you will closely work together with our Core Data Platform team, various (internal) business stakeholders and multiple data providers. How you achieve results in this? That’s up to you. We trust in the way you can distinguish between main and secondary issues and make connections. You put your talents to work at:

  • Identifying the integration requirements of several data sources.
  • Designing, implementing, and testing cloud based (Azure) data intensive applications,
  • Collaborating with Lead Engineers, Data Architects & Enterprise Architects for technical solutions,
  • Helping team members with technical questions, and
  • Coaching junior team members.


The Central Data Factory team is a team of data engineers within Data, AI & Analytics (DnA), whose primary purpose is to establish robust data pipelines for retrieving data from internal and external sources, and eventually send it to the Core Data Platform. The team works closely with different departments within Schiphol, some of them are AI, BI, IoT, Data Governance and some more.

  • 5+ years experience with data-driven solutions, including production data-pipeline deployment and management.
  • Strong Scala, Java, or Kotlin skills (2+ years hands-on experience preferred).
  • Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Azure EventHub).
  • Proficiency in data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Beam) for batch and streaming pipelines.
  • Understanding of logging and monitoring importance (preferably Splunk, OpenTelemetry).
  • 1+ year experience with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure).
  • Familiarity with DevOps technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
You get this
  • € 5173 to € 7176 gross per month (Schaal 13).
  • A 13th month (year-end bonus).
  • The possibility to work 4 x 9 hours in a 36-hour work week.
  • An NS Business Card that fully reimburses travel by public transportation to and from work.
