The role
As Proposal and Cost Estimator at Damen Naval, you will play a crucial role in analysing requirements and providing accurate cost estimations for our Services department. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing compelling proposals that meet the needs of our clients while ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards.
Key accountabilities
As Proposal and Cost Estimator, your key responsibilities will include:
- Analyse requirements and specifications to understand project scope.
- Estimate costs of materials, labour, equipment, and resources for proposed services.
- Assess the impact of changes or variations in project scope on cost.
- Collaborate with the Customer Services Manager and other departments to gather necessary information.
- Prepare detailed proposals with cost estimates, timelines, and technical specifications.
- Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties, proposing mitigation strategies.
- Conduct cost and sensitivity analyses to identify cost drivers and opportunities for savings.
- Conduct market research to understand industry pricing trends.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation related to cost estimation and proposal development.
Skills & experience
To excel as Proposal and Cost Estimator, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Bachelor or Master degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
- Experience with ILS and LCM concepts and in cost estimations for services supporting naval capabilities.
- Knowledge of naval vessel operations, maintenance, and project management.
- Proficiency in English and preferably Dutch, both written and verbal.
- Key competencies: customer orientation, quality focus, teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
