The role

As IT Project Management Officer your support IT project Managers by delivering the relevant project governance principles and help improve the project management maturity across the IT Department in Damen Naval. You are a member of the IT Special Domains department l which is the driver for digital transformation and a provider of high-quality IT solutions and services, aimed at improved productivity and better customer experience. Given the extensive communication with a lot of Dutch internal stakeholders, good command of the Dutch language is essential for being successful in this position.

Key accountabilities
As the Project Management Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the IT Project Manager with the initiation of a project, including proposal drafting, project planning and budgeting.
  • Act as the liaison between the IT Project Manager and the IT Business Controller.
  • Support the IT Project Manager during the execution by monitoring project progress, identifying and monitor dependencies and risks that threaten project success.
  • Report insights to IT management related to project status, development, risks, and issues.
  • Involve, manage, and empower relevant project stakeholders from both business and IT.
  • Support the IT Project Manager during the finalization of projects by finding, mapping and share lessons learned as well as archiving project documents.
  • Support the IT Project Management Team Lead in managing the IT Project Portfolio by maintaining IT project information.
  • Onboard new IT Project Managers with regards to IT Project Management processes, templates, and tools

Skills & experience
To excel as a Project Management Officer, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Relevant Bachelor degree, preferably complemented with Project Management qualifications.
  • Five to ten years, working experience in project management and portfolio management in a large, international organization, working as project support officer, or a similar position.
  • Sound knowledge of PMBOK and/or Prince2, Agile/Scrum, and with working experience in Waterfall and Agile/Scrum projects.
  • Experience with project financials and with implementation of change and improvement projects.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, MS Project, and SharePoint.
  • Good command of Dutch and English language written & verbal.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
