The role
Damen Naval is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant (Interim) to join our team on a project basis in Vlissingen. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and maintaining the time registration system for all employees, ensuring that work hours, vacation time, sick leave, and other time-related data are accurately processed. Your work will directly impact payroll accuracy and employee attendance records, making you an essential part of our HR operations.
Key accountabilities
As Payroll Assistant your key responsibilities will include:
- Accurately reviewing and maintaining the time registration system to ensure all worked hours are approved and processed.
- Verifying and processing time registrations, ensuring payroll data aligns with approved hours and leave requests.
- Handling employee hire forms, information updates, temporary staff data, and contract terminations in the time registration system.
- Ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements, such as holiday calculations and overtime hours, are met and accurately processed.
- Verifying and processing requests for allowances, such as Cost-Of-Living, travel, and mobility allowances.
- Educating staff on time registration tools and assisting managers, supervisors, and secretaries with system issues.
- Identifying opportunities for process optimization and tool improvements within the time registration system.
- Assisting Payroll Administrators with complex issues or special requests related to time and attendance.
- Contributing to the transfer and retention of knowledge within the department while continuously improving departmental processes.
Skills & experience
To excel as Payroll Assistant, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Secondary Vocational Education (MBO-4) in Business Administration or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience working with time registration systems and personnel manuals.
- Solid knowledge of time registration and payroll systems, along with intermediate Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office.
- Good command of both Dutch and English, both written and verbal.
- Key competencies: strong customer orientation, teamwork, results-driven, flexible, detail-oriented, and capable of planning and organizing effectively.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
