Our Sr. Mechatronic System Architects are technically responsible in projects from start to finish. Going to customers to translate the wishes in topology scenario’s, architecture, concepts and technically leading the activities along the v-model up to validation of the volume production. This on highly complex systems and modules in the semicon world, that need to be integrated into larger semicon machines and factories. n this, you guide various teams of highly educated engineers and keep the development process moving by taking typical risk-based decisions. In the teams, you fulfill a leading, inspiring and coaching role. As a multidisciplinary leader of teams in different phases, you ensure the best solution for the customer. In this, you have a high degree of independence and freedom in organizing your work.
The technology fields that you’ll work for are mainly semicon stages and accurate modules, handling of substrates and conditioning, high-dynamic systems in different environments such as vacuum and cryogenics.
Your activities and responsibilities:
- Lead multi-disciplinary D&E development teams of 20-40 highly skilled technical employees (MSc, PhD, various experience levels) to ensure in-spec, on time delivery within budget.
- Create topology, architectures and concepts based on technical experience and convert those into work break downs. Provide specifications to the mono-disciplinary departments
- Feel and act responsible for the plan & planning and act as one team with the responsible project manager.
- In projects: guide, coach multiple (lead-)engineers and sub-architects in their daily routines to become more effective and knowledgeable.
- Collaborate with group leaders on coaching of engineers and improve design quality and grow people into more mature technical roles.
- Together with the other system architects improve ways of working in architecture and all business and customer aspects.
- Help our CTO and our Sr. Architects with road mapping on different technologies and manage them (make it happen).
We are looking for a technical and people-oriented manager with a hands-on mentality and the ability to shape the strategy and development of the organization at a transcendent level.
- Master’s degree or a PhD in mechatronics, mechanical- or electrical engineering or in technical physics.
- Preferred hands on experience with software and firmware design, assembly, integration and testing of machines and modules
- At least 10 years of experience in a similar role in a high tech industry
- Experience with design and realization of mechatronics systems
- Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic attitude
- Ability to balance the needs of stakeholders with conflicting system specifications
- Good communicational skills and good knowledge of English.
- Demonstrate strong sense of ownership and urgency. Know how to escalate and ask for help.
- Ability to derive conclusions from analyses and make practical recommendations.
- High-energy, quick study with flexible nature.
- Self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn & grow
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently and with minimal guidance.

Within VDL ETG, the department of Technology & Development (T&D) is responsible for the specification, design and integration of high tech mechatronic machine modules, professional systems and capital intensive equipment. All this takes place under one roof. The high-tech production facility is equipped with state-of-the- art machinery to produce any designed product. The Technology & Development department consists of a number of competence groups, such as Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Software, Flow & Thermal and Project management. Within our multidisciplinary project teams we specify, design, develop and qualify modules and products for our customers. Subsequently, we supply these products to our customers. #LI-MV3
