Mechanical Engineer Materials
  • Location: Drachten (Hybrid – Minimum 3-4 days onsite per week)
Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 1 year

Your Role

As a Mechanical Engineer Materials, you will leverage your expertise in materials science to enhance and develop Philips' product solutions, impacting billions of lives worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lab Operations: Maintain and operate all resources for the metallography and materials testing labs
  • Customer Requests: Process requests for analyses, investigations, and consultancy in the materials lab
  • Research & Development: Define and prepare product/material samples for testing, scout for new or alternative metal materials for product design, and conduct root cause analyses for material failures
  • Simulation & Modeling: Develop and improve material models for process simulations in collaboration with internal expert groups
  • Testing & Design: Write functional specifications for test setups, equipment, and tooling to support industrialization processes
  • Consultation & Communication: Present research findings and technical insights to internal Philips stakeholders
Functie-eisen Your Profile
  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Material Science (preferably with expertise in Stainless Steels)
  • Experience: Open to recent graduates, but candidates with some experience in a material lab are also encouraged to apply
  • Technical Skills: Eagerness to learn and grow in material science
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, creativity, proactivity, teamwork, and excellent communication skills
  • Passion for Innovation: Enthusiasm for developing products that enhance consumer experiences and push material science boundaries
Primary employment conditions
  • Monthly salary as per market standards
  • A 13th month payment, pro-rated periodically
  • 8.33% holiday allowance calculated on 12 monthly salaries
Secondary employment conditions
  • Pension Plus scheme
  • Net €750,- to set up your home workplace
  • 25 vacation days per year based on 40 hours
  • Travel allowance
  • Internet allowance
  • Relocation assistance if you come from outside the Netherlands
