ABOUT US
Get on board with Damen Naval, along with more than 1,200 professionals based in The Netherlands, Romania, and Germany. We are the naval division of the family-owned Damen Shipyards Group which employs 12,000 professionals globally. Damen Naval designs and builds advanced naval vessels for customers all over the world. With a passion for technological innovation and sustainable solutions, we continue to push the boundaries in naval shipbuilding. You can be part of our team! Are you ready for duty?

THE ROLE

As an Interim IT Project Manager at Damen Naval, you will ensure timely delivery of in-house IT projects aimed at enhancing business solutions and optimizing our IT environment. You will draft and get approval of the specifications for solutions and deliverables through close collaboration with internal customers. You also manage to make them aware of their stake in adopting business changes to fully leverage new solutions. Your projects will range from IT infrastructure improvements to business applications and digital collaboration platforms. Strong stakeholder management is vital to your success, and you will build collaborative teams from different IT disciplines, each with their own priorities and schedules. For this position you need to be willing to visit our headquarter in Vlissingen on a regular basis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
In this interim role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering IT projects end-to-end according to set KPIs, with continuous stakeholder engagement.
  • Creating detailed forecasts based on necessary resources—budget, timelines, and external resources—to validate proposals and define KPIs.
  • Defining required capabilities over the project timeline and assigning (external) project members accordingly.
  • Proactively monitoring and mitigating risks that threaten project success.
  • Identifying and managing dependencies with other projects for seamless integration and execution.
  • Reporting key metrics to stakeholders on project status, development, risks, and issues.
  • Advising and supporting improvements in project (portfolio) management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Proven success in delivering IT projects within complex business environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills to create buy-in and strong engagement.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with waterfall and Agile/Scrum projects.
  • Relevant master’s or bachelor’s degree, preferably supplemented with project management qualifications.
  • Ability to work frequently on-site at our offices in Vlissingen and Schiedam.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.

  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

WHAT WE OFFER
At Damen Naval, we value our temporary team members and strive for a positive and successful collaboration. As a temporary professional on secondment basis, we offer you the following conditions:

  • An attractive salary aligned with permanent staff.
  • Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.
  • Flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.
  • Challenging and innovative projects.

OTHER
This temporary assignment is exclusively offered on a secondment (detachering) or temporary employment contract basis. Freelance or ZZP agreements are not considered due to current Dutch legislation.

If you are interested, please submit your application with the following details:

  • Your CV and motivational letter.
  • Indication of your expected gross monthly salary (based on full-time work).
