About the role

The People Payroll team together with our People Operations Team are the building blocks of our People function, with strong, robust and efficient operations we grow our partnerships with the business and create a meaningful employee experience. We are looking for a 2nd (International) Payroll Specialist to strengthen our People Payroll Team.

As (International) Payroll Specialist, you are end to end responsible for the payroll process in all countries where our Catawikians are based. Of course we want to pay our employees all over the world their salaries on time and ensure timely and accurate processing of the payroll. This includes collecting and providing payroll data to the local payroll providers and reviewing the completed payroll reports. Currently our Catawikians are based in 8 European countries, a few countries outside Europe and we are expanding further on a global level.

What you’ll do
  • On a monthly basis, you are responsible for collecting all payroll data from internal departments, organizing and submitting to the local payroll provider in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review monthly payroll output reports to ensure (variable) data is processed correctly.
  • Be the first point of contact and strong sparring partner for our local payroll providers around payroll processes and other payroll related communications.
  • Be the go-to person for all payroll related questions for our employees.
  • Keep track of and ensure compliance regarding all local legislations.
  • Work together with external parties (e.g. local lawyers, tax advisors) in case you need any advice on the practice of local labour law or fiscal regulations.
  • Prepare and align with the Finance team on payroll reporting.
  • Work together with the People Operations Team to implement automatin, innovation and any continuous improvements around the payroll processing and reporting.
  • Move in Sync with our Finance & Legal team, People Business Partners and Recruitment to optimise employee processes and experience.

What you’ll bring

You have work experience in an HR department of a commercial and international oriented organisation and:

  • 2-3 years experience in (international) payroll for the Netherlands and further EU countries.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate (compliance) risks and act accordingly.
  • Ability to oversee and structure complex processes and identify opportunities for improvements/simplifications.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, as well as independently while adhering to processes and procedures.
  • Proactive, flexible, eager to learn and service oriented.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, accurate and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and can prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Being able to speak Dutch or any other EU language where we have an entity (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German) is a big plus.
  • Experience in working with Workday and a payroll certification is preferred.

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire and connect. Most Catawikians are within commuting distance of one of our offices and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model. This means we typically ask you to be in the office 2 out of 5 days, roughly 40% of your working time, to collaborate and connect with your colleagues. Of course, if the job description specifies that the role is 100% remote—such as for certain expert or sales positions—then that arrangement will apply.
