Role description:

Lead an engaged and motivated GBA FP&A function to support the GBA finance strategy whilst ensuring the highest level of fiduciary responsibility is maintained (reliable systems, processes, controls, and reporting). This role is a Global scope with preference in European time-zone.

The GBA FP&A Director reports directly to the GBA Finance Director (FD). The FD is a member of the Global Finance Leadership Team (FLT) of Arcadis.

Role accountabilities:

Act as a business partner to support the GBA Officer and GBA FD for decision making:

  • Track and Report on the financial performance of the GBA.
  • Flag gaps or potential deviations from the agreed budget or forecast and provide insightful analysis on business performance.
  • Lead the development and completion of the financial plans and forecasts. 
  • Own the GBA mgt fee budget and spend oversight.
  • Coordinate and assess (post calculation) the quality of capex / investment proposals from the business.
  • Provide support & guidance to finance integration of acquired businesses and of the incoming team members into the wider Arcadis Finance function.
  • Actively work with the business to ensure value adding insights and analysis are being provided to help drive performance improvements across all growth, operational and supporting areas.

Lead the FP&A function:

  • Report financial KPIs, project and P&L performance management reporting and analysis (profitability, net working capital and cashflow) accurately and transparently, enabling effective decision making for the GBA, CBAs and BULx where needed.
  • Coordinate the GBA budget, develop outlook & forecast capabilities and develop mitigation plan to support target achievements.
  • Lead the GBA FP&A business analyst team member(s)
  • Globally lead the GBA Planning, Forecasting and Reporting cycles collaborating closely with BA Controllers and BA Leadership teams.

Interact with global finance team:

  • Ensure appropriate implementation and application of group processes.
  • Roll out in the GBA the processes and methods designed centrally.
  • Ensure standardization within the GBA and with other GBA’s and avoid customization of systems and processes.
  • Ensure alignment with GSSC accounting teams, provide relevant information to accounting teams, manage closing processes jointly with GAO organization.
  • Request support and validation from finance group experts as needed (tax, treasury, accounting, etc.).

Key Shared Responsibilities: 

  • With the FD develop a financial strategy focused on maximizing shareholder value associated with the GBA; encompassing all value creation levers (e.g. capital allocation, capital structure, portfolio strategy, governance) with effective communication to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Support the Global Accounting Officer in identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline finance support and remove overhead with the Global Shared Service Centre.
  • Together with the other GBA FP&A Directors, GBA FD’s, the Finance Transformation Director, the Group Controller and the Global Accounting Officer, support the CFO in designing and implementing a successful Finance organization.
  • In absence of the FD acts as his/her delegate

Decision Rights: 

Owns: GBA financial planning & reporting process and analysis

Influences: GBA finance strategy and investments / M&A
 

Qualifications & Experience:

The candidate should have a relevant bachelor or master's degree and at least 8+ years of experience as a senior finance leader with broad experience in finance management and reporting in a global setting. 

Further the candidate should have proven experience as strong business partner with excellent understanding of client needs combined with a thorough knowledge of project business and driving finance transformation and/or operational excellence processes (including leading, motivating and developing remote finance teams).
