The role

As a Functional Application Manager at Damen Naval you manage functional application activities by addressing operational issues, ensuring data integrity, and collaborating with solution providers for enhancements. You also contribute to strategic application development by providing expertise, verifying specifications, and shaping the roadmap for ongoing improvements.

Key accountabilities

As the Functional Application Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supports application use: Enhances (engineering) applications for the business.
  • Develops specifications: Improves existing and new applications.
  • Drives performance: Ensures smooth application execution.
  • Analyzes issues: Collaborates with stakeholders.
  • Reports bugs: Communicates with external suppliers.
  • Advises stakeholders: Aligns on issue impact.
  • Verifies solutions: Enhances functionality.
  • Provides support: Assists users.
  • Tests enhancements: Before deployment.
  • Contributes to documentation: Training materials and guides.
  • Bridges the gap between IT and business with knowledge of the business processes and IT capabilities.

Skills & experience

To excel as the Functional Application Manager, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a similar position, preferably in a corporate environment as part of a staff department.
  • Experience in application maintenance, preferably within a technical, complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level in IT or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience with 3DX Dassault Systems or SAP is plus.
  • Good command of the Dutch & English language (written & verbal).
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
