The role
As the Configuration Process Manager at Damen Naval, you are the driving force behind Configuration Management (CM). You’ll ensure that our naval shipbuilding projects are seamlessly executed with precision and compliance. Your expertise will be pivotal in developing and refining CM processes, ensuring our naval ships are built to the highest standards and fully compliant with technical requirements. Working from our Operational Support Office, you are reporting to the Director of Operations.
Key accountabilities
As the Configuration Process Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Develop and improve processes:
Lead the development, compliance, and continuous improvement of end-to-end configuration management processes documented in the Damen Naval Management System (DNMS).Establish and manage CM plans:
Create and manage Configuration Management Plans (CMP) for tenders and naval shipbuilding projects, ensuring alignment with Planning and Finance.Coordinate change requests:
Identify and submit change requests to the Change Control Board, maintaining efficient CM processes.Lead CM for new naval shipbuilding projects: Guide the configuration management setup for new projects, collaborating with customers, partners, and co-makers.
Manage data and information exchange:
Oversee the distribution and exchange of data and information, ensuring adherence to CM principles.Audit deliverables:
Conduct audits on project deliverables and manage the collection and distribution of maintenance and training documentation.Report and advise:
Provide management with insights and advice on configuration management topics, offering clear solutions for CM issues.Train and coach teams:
Educate and support CM representatives and project teams on internal CM standards.Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of overarching CM processes, ensuring alignment with departmental procedures.
Skills & experience
To excel as a Configuration Process Manager you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
5+ years of experience leading teams and managing engineering processes for complex systems, ideally within the shipbuilding industry.
Extensive experience with configuration management, preferably certified as a CM-II practitioner/expert.
Solid understanding of a variety of engineering concepts and practices, preferably in an engineering to order industry.
Proven ability to inspire, lead, and coach teams in adopting new and improved configuration management practices.
Demonstrated seniority and charisma to serve as the internal Configuration Management authority within Damen Naval.
Excellent command of the English, and preferably also mastering the Dutch language (written & verbal).
Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
