Functieomschrijving

Sitech is looking for a motivated, experienced, and independent chemical technologist who can contribute to both our innovation projects within Brightsite and technology projects with our clients.

Brightsite is a public-private partnership between Sitech Services, TNO, Maastricht University, and Brightlands Chemelot Campus, focusing on the sustainability of the chemical industry, including at the Chemelot site. At Brightsite, we work on projects aimed at making the chemical industry climate-neutral. We achieve this by developing new processes and technologies with our partners and by taking a systems approach to entire factories to determine the best technologies to implement at the right time. For this, we use and refine models that analyze the entire system.

How will you contribute?

  • You will guide scale-up projects for new, innovative processes. You will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams with different work cultures.
  • You can break down large, complex issues into core elements and solve them creatively and systematically. You do this using a model-based and/or experimental approach, delegating sub-elements to relevant experts.
  • You can translate innovation challenges into solutions that can be applied and implemented in real-world factory settings.
  • Based on development and scale-up inquiries, you will identify innovation directions and define research programs.
  • You will work on both innovation projects and process-supporting projects for clients, enabling you to switch between a fundamental and pragmatic approach.
  • You will contribute to feasibility studies and scoping within general engineering projects.
  • You will perform or contribute to conceptual and basic engineering within both innovation and client projects.
  • You will closely collaborate with our external partners and clients.

Your ideal background:

  • A Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemical Technology. You have a solid understanding of general chemical engineering concepts with an emphasis on physical transport phenomena and reactor technology.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the chemical industry, preferably in an R&D environment.
  • Experience in scaling processes up and down from laboratory to production scale and vice versa, both theoretically and practically.
  • Experience in solving complex, multidisciplinary problems in a structured/model-based manner and translating these into mathematical problems and experimental programs.
  • Experience working in/with multidisciplinary teams with different work cultures.
  • A role model (Lead by Example) in terms of company culture, collaboration, and tackling challenges.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in managing and developing competencies based on technical content within the organization is a plus.
