The role
As a CAD Engineer in the Proposals team at Damen Naval, you will visualize tender package specifications for advanced naval vessels. You'll produce drawings, diagrams, and arrangements in pre-contract phases, supporting the technical proposal team in defining our projects. The formal job title for this role is "Draftsman".
Key accountabilities
As the CAD Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Create accurate drawings, diagrams, and 3D models to visualize technical designs and ensure specification compliance.
- Support in creating other graphical representations of (parts of) naval ships, including 3D modelling and prototyping.
- Visualize or naval ship projects for customers through electronic and physical models.
- Identify spatial needs and allocate functions within the arrangement of our naval ships.
- Perform trade-offs for the optimum arrangement of elements onboard.
- Contribute to the ideal architecture of Damen Naval designs.
- Collaborate with other departments such as engineering and production to ensure a smooth transition of the design into subsequent phases.
Skills & experience
To excel as the CAD Engineer, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Engineering, or a related field, combined with at least three years of relevant experience.
- Experience in preparing drawings and diagrams within shipbuilding and visualizing ideas through hand sketches/drawing.
- Expertise and experience in a variety of design concepts and practices, including hands-on coordination of the design process.
- Proficiency in a variety of computer aided design (CAD) tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Rhino.
- Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
